A return figure is a long-run average over millions of rounds, not a promise about your session, and it is set by the operator from a range the studio provides. The same slot can run at 96.5% at one casino and 94% at another, and almost no operator publishes which build it is running. Where the figure appears inside the game — open the paytable before you spin — that is the number that applies to you. Where it does not, treat the published range as the widest it could be.

Blackjack
The lowest house edge on the floor, and the only mainstream game where what you do changes the arithmetic. The return depends on the rules of the specific table — how many decks, whether the dealer stands on soft 17, whether you can double after splitting — more than on which casino you are at. Baccarat

Poker
Two different products under one name. Video poker is you against a paytable, and the paytable sets the return — a full-pay machine and a short-pay one look identical and differ by several per cent. How Online Casino Games Work
Six ideas explain most of what separates one game from another. None of them is complicated, and knowing them changes which games you choose.
RTP (Return to Player)
The share of everything wagered that a game pays back over the long run. A 96% game returns 96 units for every 100 staked, averaged across millions of rounds. It is a reliable way to compare two games and a useless way to predict an evening — and, as above, the operator picks it from a range.
House Edge
The same number seen from the other side: RTP and house edge add to 100%. A 96% slot has a 4% edge; a blackjack table at 99.5% has an edge of half a per cent. When someone says a game is tight, this is the number they mean.
Volatility
How the return is distributed, not how large it is. Low volatility pays small and often; high volatility pays rarely and large. Two games with an identical RTP can empty a balance at completely different speeds, which is why volatility, not RTP, is what you actually feel. With a small bankroll, high volatility is the wrong choice regardless of the headline figure.
RNG (Random Number Generator)
The software that decides every non-live round, independent of the last. Two consequences follow, and both are routinely misunderstood: a slot is never due, and a losing streak says nothing about the next spin. Reputable generators are tested by outside laboratories, and it is the operator’s licence that obliges them to submit to it.
Betting Limits
Every game carries a minimum and a maximum, and they vary far more than players expect — live tables usually start higher than their software equivalents, and a bonus almost always caps the stake per round while wagering is outstanding. Exceeding that cap is one of the most common reasons a bonus is voided.
Progressive Jackpots
A slice of every stake feeds a shared prize pool. That slice sits inside the advertised RTP, which means the base game returns less than the number suggests to everyone who does not win the jackpot — which is essentially everyone. On one operator we measured, 23 studios out of 86 block the Emirates by name — which is most of the gap between the game count a casino advertises and the number that will open for you. Every count in the note above applies. We publish measured counts per country in each country guide rather than repeating what the operator claims.
Mobile, Arabic and the currency
Nearly everything runs in a mobile browser without an app. Arabic comes in three grades that are easy to confuse: none at all; an interface in Arabic with the contract still in English; and terms genuinely published in Arabic. And almost no operator holds a balance in dirhams, which means a conversion on the way in and another on the way out — a cost taken twice, for the life of the account, that outweighs a welcome bonus taken once.
Licensed in the UAE, or licensed somewhere else
This distinction matters more than any other on this page, and it is the one most sites blur. The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) was created in 2023 and does issue real licences in the Emirates. A site accepting players from the UAE is not the same thing as a site licensed in the UAE. Almost every operator you will find online holds an offshore licence — Curaçao or Anjouan — which gives you a regulator to complain to, but not a UAE one, and no protection under UAE law. Any site describing itself as “UAE licensed” without a GCGRA licence number you can check is making a claim that does not stand up.

How We Evaluate Casino Games

Frequently Asked Questions
